Missing it

Image
There are so many things that have been changed due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, but the thing I miss more than anything else is going to school. I never thought I’d say this, but I legitimately want to go back to school as soon as it is safe to do so. I’ll admit that at the start of this back in mid March, I was quite excited to not have school for a while, but now, I see that I was very naive to want this. I was anticipating that this would be like a sort of Summer vacation or Spring Break 2.0, but this has not felt like a vacation, nor a break at all. Without going to school or going out, I don’t really have anything to do. Every week has become a cycle of waking up, going on my phone, eating, going back on my phone, eating, going on my phone, going to bed, and repeating, with some schoolwork sprinkled in at the start of the week. All the days just blend together, and it just ends up being dull and unrelieving. It would actually be really nice to have something to do during the week...

COVID-19

The Coronavirus pandemic has been way less fun than I thought it would be. When it became apparent that schools were going to have to be closed for an extended period of time, I was actually really excited. I’m not going to say that I hate school, but I really wanted the break to last longer than the two weeks originally taken off for Spring Break. I was excited to have what will likely end up being the longest break without school since I was three years old. After more than a month without school, however, my hopes have shifted to wanting this to be over. This may sound weird to someone reading this in the future, but this situation really sucks. Even though we don’t have school, my enjoyment level of the current situation is remarkably low, the exact opposite of what I was expecting. The main thing is that there are just so many restrictions on the things that I previously enjoyed so much. Someone who’s name I cannot recall once said that, “Chaos is at once a risk and a chance.” If...

Hockey

I like to say that if you’ve done something for ten years or more, then you enjoy doing it. This certainly applies to me playing hockey. I have played hockey since I was in grade 1, and even though I didn’t really know what I was doing all those years ago, I still loved it. After my first couple years of playing, I decided that I wanted to play goalie. If I’m being honest, the only reason I wanted to be a goalie was because I was too lazy to do all the skating drills during practice. Having said that, I really do have a passion for playing goalie now. This past year was my tenth year in total playing hockey, and it was my eighth year playing goalie, five of which I have been my teams’ full time goalie. This year, I was expecting our team to not be very good. I was super happy to be proven wrong, as not only did my team make the finals, but we actually won!!! This was only the second time in my ten years of playing that I had won the championship, but it really wasn’t so much the win...
